I encountered something that blew my mind this afternoon and thought I should share. I am working on a loan for a buyer and they have been looking for a home for about two months. They went into an open house this past Sunday and encountered an agent that has done their client no justice. My clients loved the house, but had a few questions. After their first generic question about the community, the agent opened the flood gates with information that their client would have shot them on the spot if they had heard. Take into account, this home was listed for 739k and recently reduced to 689k. Word for word, this agent said to my client, “I think you could probably get this home for 640k…the owners are getting divorced and they need to sell…they would also be willing to give an allowance for the yard (about 20k…which is not in the mls, so my guess is that they are not that willing)…and so on!”
When my clients said this to me today, I wondered how people could sleep at night knowing that they were throwing their clients under the bus for a commission.
>People…get the hint, the reasons discount agents save you money are the same reasons the cost you money. The problem is; what you save is not even close to what they cost you. As a third party, I say…do some research and go with the Realtors that have the best track record.
